HISTORY

 BACKGROUND

In early 2003, a public meeting was called by the local councillors to discuss the use of the beaches in the North East by off-road motor-sports enthusiasts.  Over 100 people attended the meeting – the majority being quad riders.  It was pointed out by the police that use of the beaches was illegal, and in turn the councillors suggested that the off-road community form a club in order to represent their views to the authorities.

Subsequently, BOMC was founded in June 2003, by a group of dedicated individuals who have given up their free time and energies to bring about a change in attitude to off-road sports enthusiasts, and to make a real difference to this community in the North East of Scotland.

The BOMC’s ultimate objective is to represent the interests of the off-road community in the North East of Scotland, and in particular the quad bike riders, who have no official facilities in the area.

The BOMC membership continues to grow each month. This gives a clear indication towards the No.s who participate in this type of leisure pursuit, giving more emphasis towards the provision of suitable, approved facilities, within the North East community.

BOMC - Temporary Offroad Facility
All events to date have had a very successful and promising attendance level, however new members always welcome.

Please feel free to ask questions by simply sending an email to INFO@BOMC.ORG.UK .

While the planning process is in motion, it has been noted through interest generated that a more immediate solution towards providing a suitable offroad facility would be welcomed by all members.  This motivated the BOMC committee to continue to investigate all opportunities, that may allow the more immediate opening of a facility for “all” BOMC club members.

The club successfully secured lease of a 22 acre field for an initial period of 1 year, with the intention to provide a facility open for both race and play days. It has now been used successfully for several play days events, and  race day events.

With the SACU regulations now changed to allow junior quad classes, there’s no stopping the uptake of the support from within our junior ranks.
